The Lebanese institutions take the necessary measures to secure drilling in Block 4 amid the COVID-19 pandemic

On the 15th of March 2020 the Council of Ministers announced a general mobilisation state closing down the airport and putting the country under a partial national lockdown amid the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Nevertheless, drilling activities in block 4 are on schedule due to exceptional measures set forth by the Lebanese State and the active close cooperation among authorities and with the Operator, Total E&P Liban.

In  that regard exemptions were made to relevant personnel and to oil and gas exploration related equipment so to allow exploration drilling to continue as planned.

Additionally, the crew on board of the drillship Tungsten Explorer is mobilised for an extended period of time, hence working more than five weeks in a row instead of their normal four-week on, four-week off rotation.

Furthermore, as precautionary measures, all crew and personnel are undergoing a fourteen day observation period in addition to Coronavirus testing before being allowed to go to the drillship.
